This article describes how to add an existing collection as a subcollection, inheriting user permissions from the parent collection.
To add an existing collection as a subcollection, you must complete the following steps:
IMPORTANT: Take the following into consideration when adding an existing collection as a subcollection:
You can only add an existing collection as a subcollection if it already exists in the Collections view and you are the Owner of it.
You can add a collection as a subcollection to multiple parent collections.
You inherit user permissions from the parent collection when you add a collection as a subcollection.
1. Log in to your corresponding [Cerby](https://app.cerby.com/) workspace. 2. Select the **Collections** option from the left navigation drawer. The **Collections** view is displayed. 3. Hover the mouse over the collection to which you want to add a subcollection. A menu of icons is displayed. 4. Click the **More** **options** (
) icon. A menu is displayed. 1. Alternatively, click the **Settings** (
) icon from the corresponding collection card. The collection detail page is displayed with the **General** tab activated. 2. Activate the **Subcollections** tab. The **Subcollections** page is displayed. 5. Select the **Add subcollection** option. The **Add subcollection** dialog box is displayed with the list of existing subcollections. **TIP:** You can also use the collection details page to add an existing subcollection by performing the following actions:
1. Select the **Collection Settings** option from the drop-down list. The collection details page is displayed with the **General** tab activated.
2. Activate the **Subcollections** tab. The list of subcollections is displayed.
3. Click the **Add subcollection** button. The **Add subcollection** dialog box is displayed with the list of existing subcollections.
6. Select the name of the existing collection to be assigned as a subcollection. You can only select one collection at a time. If you can’t find the collection, you can use the search bar on top of the list. 7. Click the Next button. The Is it ok to share this? dialog box is displayed with information about the users who will also have access to the subcollection. 8. Click the Confirm button. The dialog box closes, and a success message box and the collections are now assigned as subcollections and listed in the Subcollections tab.
